Financial Scholarships


Tree Town Tennis hopes to increase access to quality tennis lessons by allowing participants the option of financial assistance

Intro to Tennis Scholarship

Designed to provide a basic introduction to tennis for youth who may not be able to afford tennis lessons. The scholarship includes a tennis racket and participation in one Spring, Summer I/II, or Fall session (averaging 4-6 weeks long) of class once per week.  Tree Town Tennis will provide up to 2 scholarships for ages 5-17 in 2024.

  1. The recipient must maintain an 85% attendance rate in order to maintain his/her scholarship status for the session, otherwise the scholarship will be revoked.

  2. Criteria:

    1. Proof of household income at or below $80,000 via tax documents from 2022 or 2023

    2. Youth between the ages of 5 and 17 (at time by which they would be beginning the program)

    3. Youth's demonstrable interest in learning/playing tennis

    4. Participant lives in the Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna, Middleton, or Star area

    5. Participant is enrolled in area public schools (3.0 GPA (or similar) or above on most recent report card)

    6. A letter of reference from a teacher, tennis instructor, sports coach, or mentor regarding positive attitude, willingness to learn, and/or showing leadership potential

    7. Please designate which session student will participate in (see section 4 below)

    8. Submission of basic tennis scholarship application form, tax forms, most recent report card, and letter of reference.

    9. Sign and submit the Activity Release of Liability Statement

  3. All submissions will be considered and voted on by the Board of Directors. Participant and parent may be interviewed before selection.

  4. Submission deadlines for 2024 and approximate tennis program dates:

    1. Spring (April 5) - Approximate program dates: 4/20-5/18

    2. Summer I (May 10) - Approximate program dates: 5/25- 6/29

    3. Summer II (June 14) - Approximate program dates: 7/13-8/10

    4. Fall (August 2) - Approximate program dates: 8/17-10/12

    5. Program dates are subject to change

Commitment Scholarship

Designed to assist teens who are interested and enthusiastic about improving their tennis game and volunteering to learn be an assistant youth tennis coach at a community level. Participant will help the lead coaches run youth tennis programs for one hour per week in exchange for discounted program fees (up to 100%). Commitment scholarships includes participation in one Tree Town Tennis weekly youth program per session, one private lesson per session, or one tournament entry throughout the playable outdoor season for 2024 (Spring, Summer I/II, Fall) with a volunteer commitment.  Tree Town Tennis will provide up to 2 scholarships for ages 13-17 in 2024. 

  1. Participant must maintain a good volunteering record by being punctual, being prepared with proper clothing, maintaining a positive attitude, and refraining from behavior that is considered inappropriate, etc.  It is up to the lead coaches to determine if a deviation from their expected behavior requires a warning or dismissal from the scholarship program.  Participants must also maintain an 85% attendance rate for the group tennis program to avoid dismissal from the scholarship program.

    1. Household income at or below $80,000 via tax documents from 2022 or 2023

    2. Youth between the ages of 13 and 17 (at time by which they would be beginning the program)

    3. Youth's demonstrable interest in learning/playing tennis

    4. Participant’s family lives in the Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna, Middleton, or Star area

    5. Participant is enrolled in area public schools (3.0 GPA or above on most recent report card)

    6. Letter of reference from a teacher, tennis instructor, sports coach, or mentor regarding positive attitude, willingness to learn, and/or showing leadership potential.

    7. Participants must have some formal tennis experience within the last 2 years, such as completing a group tennis program session, had private lessons, or participating on a school tennis team.

    8. Submission of basic tennis scholarship application form, tax forms, most recent report card, and letter of reference.

    9. Sign and submit the Activity Release of Liability Statement

  3. All submissions will be considered and voted on by the Board of Directors. Participants may be interviewed before selection.

    6. Note: This scholarship is for participation and volunteering for all sessions (Spring-Fall), but consideration will be given to submissions made after each deadline for the remainder of the sessions, if scholarships are still available.

Applicants can only be selected for one scholarship type per year, either Intro or Commitment, although applications will be still be considered if a participant applies to both scholarships. Scholarship recipients may not apply for more than one scholarship per year, but may inquire about availability of future financial scholarships within the same calendar year.
